Do I need to deal with Dutch Customs?
It’s up to you to ensure your parcel’s contents are allowed entry to the Netherlands – if you fail to do so, it may result in extra charges, the parcel being returned to you or even being destroyed. Avoid this by making sure you don’t send anything on the restricted or prohibited items list.
Are you thinking about sending personal effects to the Netherlands? There are additional documents required and you should expect some clearance delays; an invoice clearly stating “Personal Effects” is required. Further information about personal effects as part of migration can be found on the Dutch government website here.
If all this sounds a little difficult, don’t worry. We’ll help by automatically generating any documents you might need from the information you provide on the booking form.
HM Revenue & Customs has more information on tax and customs considerations for the Netherlands.
What items can’t I send to the Netherlands?
As with all deliveries outside the UK, please ensure that your parcel contents are allowed into the country. It’s your responsibility to send only acceptable items, so we advise you check carefully to prevent you parcel being denied entry, returned or destroyed.
The Dutch customs website will also be able to provide information on what is and is not accepted into Holland. You can also check the Netherlands post office website for further details.

How to package parcels to the Netherlands
Although Holland isn’t very far from the UK, we always recommend you take care with packaging; it’s likely your parcel will travel through depots with automated sorting machines, so be sure to pack your items well and use cushioning material inside your parcel to help protect the contents from moving around in transit and getting damaged.
ipostparcels can transport parcels up to 25kg in weight, 80x80x80cm max dimensions. Use a strong and sturdy outer box when sending your package, don’t overfill it and pack any empty space around the items with bubble wrap, newspaper or parcel chips. Take a look at our handy international packaging guide for tips.
How safe will my parcel be?
We pride ourselves on our courier services right from booking and collection through to delivery and wouldn’t want you to worry about your package arriving safely - it’s in good hands with ipostparcels. But for added peace of mind, you will have complete visibility of your parcel on its journey as standard using our online tracking service.
Add to this our free £50 extended cover on your items; with the option to upgrade to extra cover for more valuable contents should you wish.

Did you know?
The Dutch are the tallest people in the world, with an average height of 184 cm for men and 170 cm for women. With over a quarter of the country below sea level, the Netherlands is very flat; the Vaalserberg is the highest point at just 322.7 meters high… so you could also say the Netherlands is as flat as a pannenkoek.
