Mothering Sunday is fast approaching (March 10th to be precise); you may be looking at gift ideas and special ways to treat that lovely lady in your life. Here at ipostparcels.com we thought we’d take a trip down memory lane and learn more about the origins about Mother’s Day and give you guys a few unique ideas to celebrate the day.

Mother’s Day History:

It all dates back to the Romans who celebrated motherhood by honouring their maternal Goddess Cyabelle with a three day spring festival. By the 1600’s Mother’s Day had departed from its Roman roots and became a day of feast on the fourth Sunday in Lent. This was a day of rest and feast as the rules of Lent were relaxed. , servants and maids were given the day off to visit their families and ‘Mothering Church’. On the way home they used to pick flowers and take back with them Simnel Cake which was a traditional present.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas:

The traditional gifts for Mother’s Day were always sweet treats so why not stick to tradition and spoil your Mother with the finest macaroons or some silky smooth chocolate. If she doesn’t have a sweet tooth then how about organising a brunch hamper with sparkling wine, smoked salmon, crisp bread and some premium cheese.

Last Minute Gifts:

Don’t worry if you’ve not got round to getting your Mum a little treat prepared, there are many offers in stores for luxurious spa gift sets. You can even place an order with ipostparcels.com today, drop your parcel off to a local depot and choose Saturday delivery as an extra and your gift will be delivered to your Mother before Mother’s Day!

Whatever you decide to do make sure you spoil her rotten.

Father's Day Ideas

clock June 14, 2012 04:30 by author Fahmeda A - Parcel Pete's Helper

Father’s day is fast approaching… Sunday 17th to be exact. Here at ipostparcels.com we’ve been very busy delivering parcels to Fathers all around the UK. From small to large we’ve been collecting parcels day in day out and we’re sure there will be some very happy Dad’s this Sunday!

Gift Ideas

The ipostparcels.com team have put our creative thinking caps on and come up with a few little ideas for you to treat your Dad to this Sunday:

> New dads or dads to be- an alarm clock! Say’s it all really, gone are the days of lie in’s its now 6am starts, kids to spruce and school runs.

> Dads keepsake box- this idea is one of our fave’s and is a lovely sentiment.  Get yourself a deep metal box (very manly) and fill with a few pictures/items that mean something to get him started. He can then continue to add his own little treasures in that remind him of the joys of being a Dad.

> Or if you want to go all out, get him a barbeque. All Dads love barbeques, they’re in their element when they’re manning the grill, so why not treat him to a new one.  Don’t forget we can collect it from you and then deliver it on to him the next day.

So with some new ideas to think about and only a few days left till Sunday our next day service can help you put a smile on your Dad’s face.
