Mothering Sunday is fast approaching (March 10th to be precise); you may be looking at gift ideas and special ways to treat that lovely lady in your life. Mother’s Day History:

It all dates back to the Romans who celebrated motherhood by honouring their maternal Goddess Cyabelle with a three day spring festival. By the 1600’s Mother’s Day had departed from its Roman roots and became a day of feast on the fourth Sunday in Lent. This was a day of rest and feast as the rules of Lent were relaxed. , servants and maids were given the day off to visit their families and ‘Mothering Church’. On the way home they used to pick flowers and take back with them Simnel Cake which was a traditional present.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas:

The traditional gifts for Mother’s Day were always sweet treats so why not stick to tradition and spoil your Mother with the finest macaroons or some silky smooth chocolate.
