Mother’s Day Blog

March 8, 2013 06:19 by Fahmeda A - Parcel Pete's Helper

Mothering Sunday is fast approaching (March 10th to be precise); you may be looking at gift ideas and special ways to treat that lovely lady in your life. Here at ipostparcels.com we thought we’d take a trip down memory lane and learn more about the origins about Mother’s Day and give you guys a few unique ideas to celebrate the day.

Mother’s Day History:

It all dates back to the Romans who celebrated motherhood by honouring their maternal Goddess Cyabelle with a three day spring festival. By the 1600’s Mother’s Day had departed from its Roman roots and became a day of feast on the fourth Sunday in Lent. This was a day of rest and feast as the rules of Lent were relaxed. , servants and maids were given the day off to visit their families and ‘Mothering Church’. On the way home they used to pick flowers and take back with them Simnel Cake which was a traditional present.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas:

The traditional gifts for Mother’s Day were always sweet treats so why not stick to tradition and spoil your Mother with the finest macaroons or some silky smooth chocolate. If she doesn’t have a sweet tooth then how about organising a brunch hamper with sparkling wine, smoked salmon, crisp bread and some premium cheese.

Last Minute Gifts:

Don’t worry if you’ve not got round to getting your Mum a little treat prepared, there are many offers in stores for luxurious spa gift sets. You can even place an order with ipostparcels.com today, drop your parcel off to a local depot and choose Saturday delivery as an extra and your gift will be delivered to your Mother before Mother’s Day!

Whatever you decide to do make sure you spoil her rotten.

Shopping on your Mobile Device:

Over the past few years the way we shop has come on leaps and bounds. From traditional shopping, online shopping to now retailers having shopping apps available for use on smartphones & tablet devices.  Here at ipostparcels.com we’ve taken a look into this new trend to give you an overview.

Shopping on the go:

Couldn’t find your size in store? Don’t worry; buy it from your mobile device. Most retailers now all have mobile enabled websites. So if you go onto a retailer’s website on your smartphone/tablet device you will have noticed the layout differs from what you see on your PC or laptop. This now means you can browse, select items and even go through to payment all on your little screen.

ipostparcels.com on the go:

We understand the importance of getting your delivery to you or your recipient on time. We also understand that you may want to change your delivery around after you’ve placed your order. Did you know that you could manage your delivery from your mobile device? Well yes you can, the next time you send a parcel and need to make some changes; you can do so from your mobile device!

Snow Update 21st January 2013

January 21, 2013 07:34 by Parcel Pete

Hi All, its Parcel Pete again giving you another update on our parcel delivery service.  It’s still quite hazardous out there but we’ve been working over the weekend to avoid as many delays as we can, however some isolated postcodes will experience some service delays.

Some roads remain closed whilst some residential streets are quite badly affected making it a challenge for our drivers. Please do bear with us; we’re doing our best to get to you.

Specific postcode disruption detail can be obtained from our Customer Care teams, however, the general information is as follows:

Scotland                              Remains largely unaffected at this current time

NorthWest                          Main routes ok, some isolated postcode issues in side roads

NorthEast                           Main routes ok, some isolated postcode issues in side roads. However,  heavy snowfalls are forecast for this area over the next few days.  Parts of Sheffield, Leeds, Huddersfield, Teesside, York and Newcastle will all be affected

Midlands                            Remains largely unaffected apart from some isolated issues in side roads

SouthWest                         Some residual postcode issues from the severe weather last Friday in the whole of Mid & South Wales and also Bath. Snow is forecast for this area again tomorrow.

SouthEast                           remains largely unaffected apart from some isolated issues in side roads

The situation is constantly changing, however, the message for today so far is that all parcels are out for delivery or were delivered during the weekend.  Of course, we have the challenging conditions which may mean some postcodes are inaccessible and so service on these may experience a delay.

We will continue to update you on social media on any other changes.

Heavy Snowfall may cause Service Delays

January 18, 2013 05:22 by Parcel Pete

Hi All! Its Parcel Pete here, the UK this morning has woken up to a thick blanket of snow. Some roads are impassable, trains have been cancelled and some airports closed as what is set to be the heaviest snowfall of winter.

Wales, the West Country, eastern England, the North East of England and Scotland were the worst-hit areas this morning - with the band of severe weather set to spread across the country.

Drivers in Wales were facing major problems, with the M4 closed between Bridgend at junction 36 and Pyle at junction 37.

Gritters have been out in force, and the Highways Agency has issued an amber alert, advising motorists to take extra care and check weather forecasts before they travel.

Due to these severe weather conditions and road closures some parcel deliveries and collections may be delayed.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the weather conditions and will be updating you all via our social media pages.

More information on affected areas can be here: BBC UK Snow

To everyone travelling in the snow please be safe and extra vigilant!

Get the most out of the January Sales

January 3, 2013 11:22 by Fahmeda A - Parcel Pete's Helper

The January sales are a bargain hunters dream, it’s the best time to get yourself a discounted treat as well as trade in some unwanted gifts from the festive period. However, it’s a battlefield out there and ipostparcels.com are here to give you a few handy tips to get through it all.

List it:

Rummaging through the sales can be stressful and you’ll always end up picking up things you don’t need and therefore not actually making any savings. Our top tip here it to list things you need beforehand and the shops you need to go to.

Sell it:

If you do end up buying a whole load of unnecessary items it can sometimes be difficult to get a refund as most sale items are exchange only. So the next best thing for unwanted good and Christmas presents is eBay. Quick and easy to set up an account and you can even make some money. Just to make it even easier for you to sell you can take advantage of our next day delivery and eBay services we offer.

Online Shopping:

Online shopping is far easier, everything you want right in front of you without all the hassle searching through the mass rails of clothing.  With flexible delivery options it’s a win win situation for most products and with various voucher codes and cash back alternatives available you may be able to get some more money off.

So now that you’re armed with some handy tips, go grab yourself a bargain and if you don’t like it then sell it, we’ll come and collect your parcel and deliver it on the next day!
