Do I need to deal with Israeli customs?

For any parcel heading outside of the EU, including Israel, you’ll need to fill out a customs form. This tells the Customs Agents in the destination country about the contents of your package to enable them to process it correctly.

As with most shipments to international destinations, when you send a parcel to Israel from the UK, there are also sometimes customs duties and import taxes that need to be paid. Unfortunately, you can’t pay these charges with us at the time of booking as these charges are calculated at Customs in that country.

Goods up to £270 require a specific customs form. This form needs to be signed by the sender and attached to the top left hand corner. The sender’s full name and address must be written on the front of the package. Goods over £270 require a different customs declaration form.

However, when you book your delivery with ipostparcels, we will provide you with all the correct forms you’ll need; this will help to avoid any customs clearance delays.

What items can't I send to Israel?

It’s always important to check any restrictions of the destination country before you book a parcel for delivery, whenever you send a parcel internationally.

It can sometimes be difficult to find a definitive list of restricted and prohibited goods for many places worldwide; and Israel is one of those countries. Most have restricted items that you might think are ordinary, so it’s always best to contact the customs authorities for that country first.

Remember, it’s completely up to you to make sure you’re not sending any prohibited or restricted items, so to avoid being fined, having your parcel seized, or worse still, destroyed, check the prohibited and restricted articles before you send your parcel. The Israel Post website may be of help. It’s in Hebrew, but using a web browser such as Chrome should be able to translate the pages adequately.

Some examples of items you can’t post to Israel include:

Restricted and Prohibited Goods

Food

Illegal and dangerous

Other

Meat, poultry and eggs

Explosives, inflammable or dangerous substances Jewellery, banknotes, coins, stamps etc.

Dairy products, eggs and honey

Opium, morphine, cocaine, hashish and other drugs Animal skins and furs

Vegetables, fruit and nuts

Weapons and ammunition Pornographic material

Please be aware that we also have our own prohibited items list, in addition to country-specific restrictions.

How to package parcels to Israel

We always advise to be vigilant when packaging your parcel – remember, your items will take quite a long journey to the Middle East and will pass through depots with automated sorting machines to get to there. We recommend you make the effort to prepare your items well and use some lightweight internal cushioning material for your parcel, such as bubble wrap or packaging chips to secure the items in place. Take a look at our packaging advice here.

ipostparcels can transport parcels up to 25kg in weight, 80x80x80cm max in size. Use a sturdy outer box when sending your package and don’t overfill, regardless of the dimensions of your parcel.
