Do I need to deal with Croatian customs?

It’s up to you to ensure the parcel contents you send to Croatia are allowed into the country - failing to do so may result in extra charges, the parcel being returned or possibly even destroyed. Avoid this by making sure you don’t send anything on the restricted or prohibited list.

As with most international mail, when you send a parcel to Croatia from the UK, there are sometimes additional customs duties and import taxes that need to be paid, depending on the contents.

If this sounds like hard work, don’t worry, we’ll help automatically generate any documents for you from the information you provide on the booking form

What items can't I send to Croatia?

Before booking your courier service to Croatia, we recommend you check that all the items are allowed into the country; what seem like ordinary, every day products to us in the UK are sometimes restricted or prohibited to send to other countries. Croatia has several items that fall into this category, so we advise to re-check the regulations every time you send a parcel, as the rules and regulations can change from time to time.

Products such as perishables, ivory and hazardous materials are not only prohibited to send to Croatia, they’re also on the ipostparcels prohibited list - take a look at the full list before you prepare to send your parcel. In the meantime, some examples of items you can’t post to Croatia include:

Restricted and Prohibited Goods

Food

Illegal and dangerous

Other

Meat, fish and poultry

Non-prescriptive drugs Jewellery

Dairy products

Asbestos and gengerous goods Furs and ivory

Perishabl goods

Firearms, ammunition and explosives Precious metals and stone

Please be aware that we also have our own prohibited items list, in addition to country-specific restrictions.

How to package parcels to Croatia

Depending where in the UK you send your parcel from, the journey your parcel will take to Croatia is around 1000 miles – which isn’t the furthest of distances for a package to be transported, but far enough that we advise you make an extra effort when preparing your parcels. All ipostparcels packages will likely pass through a number of depots with both manual and automated sorting machines, as well as the road and air transit time, so the occasional scrape or bump could easily happen.

We’ll carry parcels up to 25kg in weight and 80x80x80cm max, but regardless of the size or weight, you ought to use a strong and sturdy outer box to send your items in. Remember not to over fill the box and to use lightweight packing material inside your parcel to help cushion and protect the contents from moving around inside and becoming damaged.

For further help and advice, take a look at our handy international packaging guide.

How safe will my parcel be?

From the time of collection (should you not be in, you can opt to leave your parcel in a safe place and our driver will collect it from there) to delivery, where it will be signed for by the recipient, we take good care of the items you send with us.

We also offer free online tracking to keep you fully updated on your parcel’s location, and provide £50 extended cover on your item as standard – you can choose to add extra cover for more valuable items if you wish.
