Sending alloy wheels and tyres:
Tyres and alloy wheels can be awkward to send via courier, but they do fit within our maximum dimensions and weight allowance, and are actually some of the most popular types of items we deliver.
Read on for our top tips for posting wheels and tyres safely and securely…
Some useful things to know:
-
17” Alloy wheels often weigh around 15kg which can be sent through our network as a large parcel from £6.74* (ex VAT) within the UK and from £8.74* (ex VAT) Internationally.
-
Alloy wheels can range in size from 14” up to 24” and can weigh up to 20kg each. Therefore ensure you measure them correctly. We can ship anything (which isn’t a prohibited item) up to 25kg with maximum dimensions of 120cm (l) x 80cm (w) x 80cm (h) to anywhere within the UK or Internationally to over 160 countries worldwide.
Packaging your alloys or wheels
Wheels and alloys can be very bulky and cumbersome to send. Some are very delicate, especially diamond cut alloys found on high performance cars. Please follow our guidelines for packaging your wheels to avoid any damage during transit. This will keep your recipient happy as they’ll be receiving the wheels or alloys in exactly the same condition as you specified.
-
Use multiple layers of bubble wrap when wrapping alloys, ensuring that you cover the face of the alloy and the edges with extra protection before placing in a box, this is key as these are the most visible parts of the alloys.
-
Wrapping it in bubble wrap will also protect the alloys from the elements and keep them dry, especially if it’s raining on the day your alloys are being delivered.
-
When attaching the shipping label it is recommended to use a fair amount of clear tape to cover the label to ensure water resistance and to ensure that we know where your alloys are going.
Use shrink wrap or parcel tape to securely fasten the bubble wrap and attach the shipping label to the box.
Please see our Packaging Guide for any further information.

Take out extended cover and get a signature
-
We recommended you take out extended cover when sending alloys as they can be extremely expensive. As standard all parcels delivered in the UK get £25 free contents cover and international parcels get £50 free contents cover. If the value of the content is more than our standard cover, we can offer extended cover of up to £1000 for both domestic and international deliveries - this option can be selected on the booking form when placing your order.
-
You can also choose to have your parcel delivered to a ‘safe place’ at no extra charge or have the added security of ‘a signature’ for an extra £1.50. If a signature is not selected than we cannot be held liable if your parcel is lost or damaged after delivery to a ‘safe place’.
As you can imagine, we see parcels of all shapes and sizes passing through our network and sometimes they exceed our maximum weight and dimensions. This doesn’t just cause us a problem, but also causes issues for the recipient and the sender. That’s why it’s important to declare the correct weight and dimensions when sending alloy wheels and tyres to ensure a smooth delivery. See our weighing and measuring lifehack guide for quick alternatives to using scales or a measuring tape.
