Do I need to deal with South African Customs?
For any parcel heading outside of the EU, you’ll need to fill out a customs form. This tells the Customs Agents in South Africa about the contents of your package so they can process it correctly. When you send a parcel to South Africa from the UK, there are sometimes additional customs duties and import taxes that need to be paid.
All shipments to South Africa should be accompanied by the following documentation; a statement of the contents of the package, insurance documents and the actual value of the involved product.
Important:- sending personal effects to South Africa requires a full inventory of contents and an expected 3-4 day delay at customs.
When you book your delivery with ipostparcels, we will provide you with all the correct forms you need to help your parcel through South African customs. Completing and providing these documents is down to the sender. If your parcel requires a permit these are issued by the South African Department of Trade. More detailed information is available via the South African Revenue Service website.
HM Revenue & Customs has more information on tax and customs considerations for South Africa.

South Africa is the only country in the world to have two Nobel peace prize winners who lived in houses on the same street - Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu – which is pretty impressive from a population of around 52 million. About one fifth of all gold in the world comes from South Africa.
