Do I need to deal with Pakistani Customs?

For any parcel heading outside of the EU, you’ll need to fill out a customs form. This tells the Customs Agents in the destination country about the contents of your package so they can process it correctly.

As with most international posting, when you send a parcel to Pakistan from the UK, there are sometimes additional customs duties and import taxes that need to be paid.

When you book your delivery with ipostparcels, we will provide you with all the correct forms you need to help your parcel through both UK and Pakistan customs.

HM Revenue & Customs has more information on tax and customs considerations for Pakistan.

What items can’t I send to Pakistan?

As well as the usual prohibited and restricted items you would expect from any international parcel delivery, there are some additional restrictions on what you can and can’t send to Pakistan.

We advise to re-check the regulations every time you send a parcel internationally, as they can change regularly. Pakistan is a Muslim country with strict laws around a number of items, which we in the UK might not think of as being restricted or prohibited. All items offensive to the Muslim culture, or sensitive to the Middle East security situation are prohibited. Any items made or produced in India or Israel are prohibited.

It’s vital to ensure that your parcel’s contents will be accepted into the country, as if it not this will result in additional charges to return the parcel to you, or possibly the destruction of your parcel. You can find more information on Pakistani Customs at the Pakistan Government website.

Some examples of items you can’t send to Pakistan include:

Restricted and Prohibited Goods

Food

Illegal and dangerous

Other

Fruit and vegetables

Flammable materials

Animal fur

Meat, pork, chicken

Hazardous chemicals

Antiques

Herbs

Weapons

Tabacco products

Alcohol

Narcotics Jewellery

Please be aware that when sending a parcel, gift or other items to Pakistan with ipostparcels, we also have our own prohibited items list which must be observed.

How to package parcels to Pakistan

We would advise to be extra vigilant with packaging, as your parcel will be taking quite a long journey, through several depots with automated sorting machines. Be sure to take extra effort to package your items well – and use some cushioning material inside your parcel. Take a look at our packaging advice here.

We’ll transport parcels up to 25kg in weight, 80x80x80cm max in size – though we strongly recommend you use a strong outer box when sending your package and don’t overfill it, regardless of the dimensions of your parcel. If you’d like some further advice on packaging, take a look at our handy international packaging guide for tips to get everything there soundly.

How safe will my parcel be?

Provided you adhere to the restricted and prohibited items list and general customs regulations, there’s no reason to worry about your parcel when you send with ipostparcels – it’s in good hands! But we know you want to be sure, so to help with any concerns you have, our free online parcel tracking system will help you keep tabs on your parcel throughout its whole journey, from collection to delivery.

We also provide £50 free extended cover on your parcel to give you additional peace of mind, or you can choose to add extra cover for more valuable items.

Did you know?

The name Pakistan means ‘land of the pure’ in Persian and Urdu. Pakistan shares a land border with Afghanistan, China, India and Iran – covering over 300,000 square miles (about the size of France and the United Kingdom).  And talking of large spaces, the amazing Shah Faisal Mosque in Islamabad can accommodate 100,000 worshippers at a time! It’s a good job, as Pakistan is home to almost 200 million people.
