By the start of August it’s fairly safe to say festival season in the UK is in full swing. Isle of Wight has been and gone and legends from the world of music have rocked away Glastonbury.
While mid-August sees what V-Festival can offer, music fans up and down the country will be blissfully waiting for the August bank holiday weekend – renowned for being one of the biggest for festivals in the UK.
With four major events taking place across the country, those lucky enough to have tickets will get to witness their favourite acts performing to huge crowds. Hopefully the weather will be good too, although there’s never any guarantees…
Reading
Twitter
With a capacity of nearly 90,000 – the same as the famous Wembley Stadium – Reading provides an eclectic mix of rock, alternative, metal, indie and punk, alongside breaking acts and exclusive performances that are not found anywhere else (apart from at Leeds since the acts rotate across the days as the two festivals are held simultaneously).
Twitter
The first acts appear on Friday night, and the show continues through until Sunday. There’s something for everyone at Reading too, with Mumford and Sons, Metallica, Deadmau5 and MK just some of those performed.
Twitter
Expect to see The Libertines, Jamie T and Wilkinson too, as they are among hundreds of acts that will be taking to eight different stages across the weekend.
Leeds
Twitter
Since the acts at Reading and Leeds are entwined, those visiting Leeds’ Bramham Park will have access to the same fantastic set of acts as those in the south of the country. As well as those already mentioned, other notable acts include The Cribs, Panic! at the disco, Gorgon City and Limp Bizkit.
Twitter
The two festivals feature more than just music too, with comedians such as Milton Jones, Stephen K.Amos and Reginald D. Hunter also performing.
Twitter
Around 75,000 attend Leeds festival, and both festivals will have a lot to live up to in 2015 – the Arctic Monkeys and Blink-182 headlined last year – both tough acts to follow!
Creamfields
Twitter
One of the biggest collections of electronic dance, techno and house music that is put together in one place occurs at Creamfields. 2015 is set to be no different with Hardwell, Armin van Buuren, Jamie Jones and Sub Focus just some of the big names to appear on the Friday night alone! Last year, 3 Are Legend packed out the tents!
Twitter
This year is bigger, better and bolder than ever before according to organisers, who are clearly expecting another successful summer when the festival returns to Daresbury in Cheshire at the end of August.
Twitter
The Chemical Brothers, Avicii, Seth Troxler and Pete Tong are all due to appear on the Saturday, with music going from midday through until four in the morning!
Tiesto, Axwell & Ingross, Fatboy Slim, Nicky Romero and Paul van Dyk will top the bill on Sunday, although there are hundreds of other acts that music fans won’t want to miss either. Simply put, for lovers of dance, there is no other place to be!
Twitter
Voted the UK’s number 1 dance festival and with more than 10 stages, capable of holding 80,000 people, Creamfields has built a reputation as a major festival on the UK circuit and it’s easy to see why!
SW4
Twitter
Set in Clapham Common, SW4 provides a smaller alternative to some of the major festivals taking place during the bank holiday weekend. Regarded as one of the premier dance music festivals in Europe, a massive line up of artists and DJs keep the crowds entertained.
Twitter
There’s light shows, fireworks and many other exciting spectacles too, making SW4 an ideal getaway for someone seeking a festival experience, but not on a truly grand scale!
Twitter
Different stages accommodate a range of acts while there are plenty of after parties for anyone keen to party the night away. Faithless, Skrillex, Eric Prydz, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Marco Carola and Oliver Heldens form part of a packed schedule!
