So, which is the best next day courier service?

Well, that all depends on what’s the most important aspect of parcel delivery to you, be it price, speed, reliability and quality of service, customer reviews or possibly the number of available drop off points. We decided to compare even further…

Cheapest courier price

In the most like-for-like comparison we could perform online, My Hermes comes in at a few pence cheaper than ipostparcels, however this is for a two day service – not next day delivery. In fact, most of the cheap parcel delivery we compared were for a 1-2 day service, definitely worth knowing when you need to get a parcel delivered as soon as possible. Fastest delivery service

All the comparisons we made were for a next day service where possible (any couriers unable to offer next day delivery are marked as 1-2 day in the table above), so excluding Collect+, My DPD and My Hermes, all deliver next day but there is a vast difference in the costs; Parcel Force prices are more than twice ipostparcels, with MyParcelDelivery and Courierpoint even more expensive. 

Drop off points available

As part of UK Mail and DHL, ipostparcels have over 50 depot drop off points around the country, there’s probably one near you. We discount £1.25 for depot drop off which makes this option appealing for the price-conscious. Our comparisons were based on a drop off service – many courier services also have plenty of drop off points, so this alone will probably not be the only reason to use any particular one.

Most generous parcel cover amount

A point to remember is one everyone hopes not to need, but is good to know is there; cover for your parcel. To compare next day courier prices accurately, we checked that the couriers were able to offer parcel cover – and they all do to some extent – but not many offer the £25 level of cover that we include without charging extra.  Beware though: some couriers only give £10 cover.

Quality of service / customer reviews

This might seem like a given when you send a parcel these days, but not so. It mightn’t be the most important part of courier services for some, but if you’ve bought something online like clothing, soft furnishings or other homewares and need to make returns – My Hermes isn’t the only service you need to use to get value for money, tracked deliveries to return items back to the retailer.
